To achieve this certification, IGI implemented an extensive water-management strategy involving more than 625 rainwater-harvesting structures, alongside the development of two large underground reservoirs with a combined storage capacity of 9 million litres. The airport also operates a zero-liquid-discharge sewage treatment plant, ensuring that all wastewater is fully recycled and reused for non-potable purposes such as air-conditioning, toilet flushing, and landscape irrigation.
